Flashback of the armored vehicle heist. 3 and 1/2 days later Michaela tells paramedics to take the driver pulled from the vehicle to Koch hospital.
Michaela tells Jared about Zeke while trying to process what is happening. Jared meets Zeke, Ben informs Zeke about Michaela and Jared's complicated relationship. The man was submerged for 82 hours and 8 minutes (828). Griffin sees an explosion, but before Michaela and Saanvi can learn more the medical staff sedates him.
While Ben, Michaela, Zeke and Saanvi try to learn more about Griffin's calling, they must come to terms that he has a criminal record, that he is a non-passenger returnee, and whether or not he is the wolf in Cal's drawing.
Jared 's jealously of Zeke fosters distrust. He wants to find out more information about Zeke. Michaela's eagerness to learn more about the explosion and her presumption that everyone has a good heart causes her to trust Griffin too much.
Olive is making a poster board of significant events and has placed Griffin on it. Cal is making a popsicle "Art the Dragon". Ben tells Grace about Griffin's calling, that there is going to be an explosion. Grace tells Ben that she is glad they are a family again.
Michaela presses Griffin to tell her more about the bombing. Griffin tells police there is going to be a terrorist attack, and wants to be cleared of all charges before giving out any more information.
Michaela admits that she screwed up by telling Griffin about the callings and assuming that he would not be receiving them unless he was going to do the right thing. Michaela asks Ben for help in finding information on Griffin. Meanwhile, internet hate against the 828 grows. Cody who is streaming live reminds everyone of Ben's screw up when he physically assaulted Cody. Ben and Grace agree that they need Olive to help do research on the internet.
Michaela uncovers that James Griffin has been in foster care since he was a child and questions him about his family dynamics.
When another doctor witnesses Saanvi experiencing post traumatic stress, he confronts her about it. But Saanvi says everything is fine.
Olives discovers that James Griffin had a foster brother, Devon Carrick, who died in 2004. This connects him to Zeke who lost Chloe, and to Michaela who lost Evie. They also learn of Angela Graham, Griffin's foster mom. Grace plans to meet with her. Michaela questions Griffin about Devon.
Zeke is seen trying to gain entrance to someone's residence, and is apprehended by the police. Zeke is taken to the 119th Police Precinct where Michaela begs Jared not to book him.
Michaela connects the shame she experienced following the death of Evie (who she says was practically her sister) with how Griffin must be feel responsible for sending his friend (foster brother) to prison saying he was the shooter even though Griffin was. “We are all connected. You are not the only one. We have all been given a second chance. This is yours.”
When Michaela is told that the U.S. Attorney signed off, and is coming to make a deal with Griffin, she asks Captain Riojas not to tell Griffin yet. She wants to keep pushing.
Grace speaks with Griffin's foster mother in front of a church. Grace tells her that Griffin is a threat to her family. Grace needs to know what she is dealing with. Angela tells Grace that Griffin had one friend in the world and he lost him. Devon had treated him like his little brother. Devon had even saved Griffin's life on a canoe trip.
When Saanvi confides in Ben that she feels "jumpy," Ben offers his support. Griffin has the same blood marker as the 828ers and Zeke. Saanvi thinks they are on the verge of discovering something awful.
Griffin is finished talking. Michaela begs him to tell her more, but he stays silent, even after she shows him a picture of him and Devon. As Michaela leaves the interrogation room, she hears a growling sound of a wolf.
Michaela talks to Zeke in the cell. She wants an explanation. Zeke tells her that it is his mom's house. He does not want to break his mom's heart, and wanted to check things out to see if she was okay. Michaela releases him from jail and tells him to talk to his mom. Jared is upset.
Ben is frustrated that Griffin literally used a calling to get away with murder. Ben is skeptical of the callings. Grace wonders if the callings are about how people choose to use them.
Cal has completed his Art the Dragon model, Olive takes a selfie of her and him, while Zeke rings door bell of his mom's house. Jared gives forensics the cup that Zeke was drinking out of, Saanvi experiences more stress.
When Michaela tells Griffin that now she knows what its like to have the callings exploited, he tells her that her thinking is far too narrow, that the callings are capable of much more. He is going to take them to a whole new level. He then reveals to authorities where the bomb is hidden.
The police arrive in Times Square and start clearing the area around a pretzel stand where they find and are able to disconnect the the bomb. Michaela then experiences a calling. She first hears a wolf growling loudly, and then sees it in the crowd. When Jared approaches her and says everything is good, shes says, "No we're not."
