Athena Karkanis and Grace Stone: Eye-candy versus Evolution
Athena Karkanis is my favorite main star on Manifest. I absolutely have no complaints whatsoever about Athena's talents and abilities when it comes to her role in portraying Grace Stone. As far as I'm concern, in all the characters and roles I've ever watched Athena portray, she has been magnificent.
It's against the rules and guidelines of this site to comment on Athena's physical attributes. But I am permitted to say that I personally find her presence on both the movie and television screens to be charismatic and compelling. And as a fan, I have always thought of her to be one of the most appealing of all the exotic eye-candies I've ever watched.
Btw, another reason Athena Karkanis is my favorite main star on Manifest is because she had not been previously typecast, i.e., she has always had the talents and abilities to portray the role of any character in any script anywhere before appearing on Manifest. Unfortunately, her role as Grace has been poorly written and developed by the showrunner and writers. Which is not Athena's fault. If only Grace Stone's character was as charismatic and compelling as Athena Karkanis.
Will Athena Karkanis be able to survive her role as it involves portraying Grace Stone on Manifest? Will Grace Stone become the tombstone on what has been Athena Karkanis' unquestionable stellar career? Or will things get better for both Athena and Grace when it comes to their fortunes on Manifest in the future? What do you think? Will things get better for Athena and her character Grace Stone on Manifest? Or will things simply get worse?
Athena Karkanis is by far the most talented actor on the show. "Eye Candy," maybe, but she is a very intelligent woman both in her acting approach to roles as you, @charles, have stated, but also in her education. If she had not followed her acting career, she would have been a superb lawyer. You do not see her over exposing herself on social media or sidebar antics like some of the other. She is totally professional, does her work, and returns to her private life.
In order for the character to survive, the writers and showrunner will need to build a character that people can cling to. Whether it be loved Grace or hated Grace, I don't care but mommy/wifey Grace ain't cutting it. S1, hated Grace was better than S2, "why am I here, Grace."
No, all great actors have hits and misses. If this turns out to be a miss, career wise for Athena Karkanis, she will be back. Just a thought, the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries could use a leading actor like her is a series. Maybe not a Christmas movie but a mystery series. My take.
She will survive and prosper.
That is all...
