I have been thinking about Mrs. Stone and trying to figure out what she is all about. One thing that strikes me is her approach to “The Truth.” From the very beginning, she has withheld “The Truth” about her relationship with Danny. You would have thought that she, Olive, Danny, and possibly Grandpa Steve would have gotten their collective heads together and come up with an immediate way to tell Ben what the situation was. (As a note, I was not sure if Grandpa Steve was involved in his daughter-in-law and granddaughter’s lives until the episode when Ben and Grace borrowed Danny’s truck and left Olive in the care of Grandpa. If they had been estranged, someone else would have been watching Olive.) But no, she kept it a secret. Olive wanted her to tell Ben, Danny wanted her to tell Ben, Rob wanted her to tell Ben, and Michaela, when she found out, wanted her to tell Ben. Four people imploring her to tell “The Truth” and still she avoided “The Truth.”

Is this an indicator of how she will deal with “The Truth” in the future? I know in the cabin Ben and Grace pledged, “no more secrets” but as far as I know she still has not told “The Truth” about her relationship with Danny. How will she deal with the baby’s paternity? Will she determine “The Truth” via a DNA test or will she avoid “The Truth” and assume it is Ben’s and not tell Danny that she is going to have a baby and there is a chance the baby may be his? As far as Danny knowing about the pregnancy, rest assured when Miss Olive finds out, she will immediately be on her phone texting Danny about the “Blessed Event.”

Grace will in my humble opinion avoid “The Truth” about the baby and let the Ben and Danny chips fall where they may. I see more confrontations as in S1E10 and unfortunately if Ben remains true to form, he will slink off and go cry somewhere but that is another discussion to be had about Ben’s “Wimpy Syndrome.”

@MaryGrace.

You have provided an insightful and intriguing perspective regarding how Grace Stone has behaved when it comes to her approach regarding "The Truth." After Michaela and Cal had finished playing the word game on the refrigerator door, Grace's face spoke volumes when she intently observed the words ... "Own Your Truth."

Your excellent commentary, in conjunction with Grace's "Own Your Truth" scene, provide me with a prospective which had never crossed my mind. But that's one of the reasons I'm here ... to read and learn from the excellent commentary provided by you and others.

... possibly Grandpa Steve would have gotten their collective heads together and come up with an immediate way to tell Ben what the situation was.

How involved Grandpa Steve was in Grace and Olive's lives is an unknown. For whatever reason(s), it's something the showrunner and writers haven't revealed. It was, however, revealed that Grandpa Steve gave Olive driving lessons (104.3).

... rest assured when Miss Olive find out, she will immediately be on her phone texting Danny about the “Blessed Event.”

Agreed. It's something that will definitely happen. Olive will be on her phone minutes, if not seconds, after finding out about the "Blessed Event."

The entire storyline involving Olive, Danny, Grace, and Ben ... and Cal ... is too convoluted IMO. I'm not stating that the characters and relationships aren't important to the overall story. But how the characters and relationships are written and presented onscreen leaves a lot to be desired ... Ben's "Whimpy Syndrome" character included.

Thanks for sharing your perspective of Grace. For me, Grace's character has always been about what makes Grace happy is the only thing that matters. I would really like to know more about Grace's backstory, e.g., any relevant information about her family and childhood.

This is Grace's "Own Your Truth" POV look.  And this is what will probably happen to Grace before it's all said and done.

@MaryGrace

... she still has not told “The Truth” about her relationship with Danny

When it comes to secrets, there's something about Grace and "The Truth" which must never be forgotten. She took the day off from work because was upset about having to pay back Ben's $500,000 death benefit. She was thrilled and excited when Ben found a solution to the problem; and was about to take him upstairs to the bedroom and show him how just thrilled and excited she was. Of course, IRL, unless fraud was involved, the insurance company would have been SOL.

But that's not the point. Grace received a text from Olive stating that she was at the Bluemercury department store and very upset. Ben would leave to go and pick Olive up. Danny arrived at the Bluemercury before Ben and pretended to be Olive's Dad. Before Ben and Olive arrived back home, Grace received a call from Danny and immediately left home. Of course, the only reason for her leaving home was to meet Danny and cuckold Ben. It's the only reasonable explanation that makes sense.

The Truth is that Grace's relationship with Danny was more important to her than staying at home and immediately dealing with Olive's shoplifting. She knew what had happened to Olive. Danny had already told her. Instead of showing parental concern by standing in the driveway and eagerly waiting for Ben and Olive to drive up, she left the house to meet Danny. Then when she does return home; she immediately starts a fight with Ben for not telling her about Olive. Why not? After finishing up with banging Danny ... blame Ben by beating up on him.

Now we, the audience, know that at the time Grace was also keeping it a secret that she had been pregnant with Danny's baby and endured a miscarriage. Fast forward to the here and now, and she still hasn't told Ben the whole truth about her relationship with Danny. She did propose that Danny could be named the baby's daddy to help protect the baby. But what was the real truth behind her proposal?

Btw, I'm trying to get all of the thoughts about the characters, storylines, and plots out of my (mind) system before the end of S2. I don't want to leave any Stone unturned (pun intended).
