Why didn't Zeke tell Michaela he was married?
There has to be a reason why Zeke never told Michaela he was married to Courtney. It's not like he didn't have an opportunity. It's also not clear why he left his wife, Courtney. Michaela, Zeke, and Courtney. Another love triangle? Will the three of them live together? Is Courtney homeless? She shows up at Michaela's apartment saying she "has no place to go." If the unexpected group dynamics between these three isn't soap opera, then what is?
Here's an idea Michaela. Tell them both to go and live together wherever Zeke was living; i.e. after he was released from jail and before he routinely started having sex with you in your apartment. Michaela immediately goes from one married man, Jared, to another, Zeke. Way to go Michaela. Never ask any questions, impatiently jump in bed and get your reverse cowgirl on; and then later worry about whether the married man you just slept with is a scumbag or not.
Who's more honest, Jared or Zeke? Jared kicked his wife to the curb for Michaela. Zeke never told Michaela he had a wife. Who's more crazy, Jared or Zeke? Who knows? Jared is showing signs of being a scorned man. A scorned man is a very dangerous man. And Zeke is a liar. As the saying goes, a liar will cheat and steal; and if you'll cheat and steal, you'll kill.
What should Michaela do? Tell both Zeke and Courtney to go to hell? Then too, it was Cal who told Michaela and Zeke they belonged together. But he never said they belonged together in bed. That's the problem with Callings; including Cal's and everyone else's. Callings like "Michaela and Zeke belonging together" could mean anything. This particular Calling could have also meant that Zeke should put a ring on Michaela's finger. But before he does, he should first get a divorce.
Where does this developing soap opera go from here? Will those fans who ship Michaela and Zeke demand that Courtney immediately leave town? Should Michaela kick Zeke out of her apartment? Will Michaela's current situation with Zeke give her an excuse to kiss and make up with Jared? Fans who ship Michaela and Jared would be happy. Stay tuned for an upcoming episode of Manifest titled, "Close Encounters (of the Salacious Kind)."
Then too, Zeke didn't have to kiss and tell Michaela he was married. All he had to do was kiss her ... and she did the rest. She took him straight to bed ... in her own apartment nonetheless ... and intimately rocked his world. Michaela Stone is a NYPD detective. Either she was too lazy ... or too careless ... or just didn't want to know Zeke's history. Regardless of why she didn't know he was married, it's all on her. She had ample opportunity to run a background check on Zeke and to know everything that was available about him in the public record. Including the public record of his marriage.
Michaela intentionally and willfully chose not to know anything about Zeke's history. She basically told Jared to go to hell when he tried to "protect" her from Zeke. Maybe Jared knew that Zeke was married. But what was he supposed to do? "Mick you need to get rid of this guy because he's married?" What would have been her reply? Probably something snarky like, "No, Jared. I got rid of you because you married my BFF. I got my revenge. I slept with you, now's it's over. I know what I'm doing. Leave me the alone and stay the hell out of my personal life."
After saying all of that. Zeke not telling Michaela he was married is just as bad as what Jared and Michaela did to Lourdes. Some of you may differ with my analogy by saying that Zeke was legally separated from Courtney. My reply, Jared was emotionally separated from Lourdes. As I see it, it's simply "a difference without a distinction." But that's JMO.
Just a brief comment. As an officer of the law enforcement community and she actually had probable cause to do a personal as well as criminal background check on Zeke, then she sure as heck had probable cause to do the same with Danny. For Danny she had probable cause to suspect he was a child predictor of Olive and a stalker of Grace. I personally don't think she had real probable cause to do a personal background check on either. Maybe criminal on Zeke but not Danny. Having said that I'm pretty sure police officers do it.
Having said that I'm pretty sure police officers do it.
Jared had no problem running a criminal check on Zeke. He even took Zeke's coffee cup from a trash can and had forensics check Zeke's fingerprints ... maybe Zeke's DNA. Jared also paid a fellow off-duty officer to follow Zeke and report back only to him. Jared isn't the first police officer, nor will he be the last, to abuse his power.
I personally don't think she had real probable cause to do a personal background check on either.
I would slightly disagree when it comes to Zeke. He disappeared from existence for a year under mysterious circumstances. A criminal background check on him wouldn't be out of the ordinary. Probable cause to run a criminal background check on Danny? Probably no valid reason. But why not? She uses her department's computer to run checks for Ben on whomever he wants. It started with Radd Campbell's son, Audio. And just recently she texted Ben reams of official police files involving the X'ers straight to his personal cell phone.
If Ben asked, and I don't know why he wouldn't, Michaela wouldn't hesitate to run a criminal background check on Danny. It would be great if they showed Michaela running a criminal background check on Danny. Maybe he has a criminal record. Wouldn't that be an exciting and thrilling OMG moment? A records check on Danny would at minimum reveal his last name. Ironic isn't it? Michaela and Danny have never had a face-to-face meeting.
Thanks, MaryGrace. Your comments are always illuminating.

So, Courtney unexpectedly shows up at Michaela's apartment, says she's Zeke's wife, and sleeps on Mick's couch for a week ... while Michaela and Zeke are stacking and packing it on the bed. Then Courtney is beaten while Michaela's apartment is ransacked. And then Michaela takes Zeke on a "spur of the moment" impromptu uncover sting operation to arrest the drug dealer responsible for having Courtney beaten. Not to forget, Michaela's partner, Detective Mikami was the only backup in this sting operation.
Afterwards, Courtney conveniently suggests to Michaela about Zeke's drug habit, i.e., hiding pills in a razor. Guess what? It must have been a lucky guess, Courtney was right. On top of it all, Zeke and Courtney had a marriage ceremony; but they never filed the paperwork. So, Mick and Zeke are good to go. Zeke and Courtney were never "officially" married.
With all due respects to anyone who's paying attention, everything about Courtney's relationship with Zeke was nothing but a crock of horse manure. C'mon, whoever's in charge; get it together. Manifest is a series that's much better than resorting to "bait and switch" tricks. The cinematography and special effects have been absolutely awesome. Storylines like the Major's and Vance's continue to be filled with anticipation and excitement. The series still has a lot of untapped potential; but please don't bury what should be the best sci-fi show on network television in a crock of horse manure like what happened with Courtney's storyline.
